As we jumpstart the beginning of what looks to be a fantastic and demanding season, with full lakes and reservations coming in at a record rate, we must take steps at the beginning to ensure the safety of our existing, new and returning workforce. Let’s make the commitment to safety by giving safety the time it deserves at the start.

In May/June of last year, we incurred 41% of the companywide injuries for the year in just the first two months of the season and another 35% in July/August.  By continuous safety mindedness and reiteration we can attempt to place safety at the core of everyone’s thinking and reduce those numbers significantly. Below is a list of essential safety training that occurs during orientation.

  • Emergency Evacuation procedures
  • Fire Prevention
  • Illness & Injury Prevention
  • Heat Illness (hydration, shade & breaks)
  • Hazard Communications
  • Claim Reporting (Injury, Incident and Near Miss)
  • Slips, Trips & Falls
  • Proper Lifting
  • Cuts & Lacerations
  • Personal Protective Equipment (including the Kevlar Glove policy)
  • Cell Phone and Alcohol Policy

The significant strides each of YOU take to bring safety to the forefront, has a direct result in keeping you, your co-workers, guests and vendors safe. Your safety is our ultimate goal and continues to be a core value of The California Parks Company. SAFETY STARTS WITH YOU!
