San Moritz Lodge at Lake Gregory to Hold First New Year’s Eve Party in 64 Years
CRESTLINE, Calif. — Lake Gregory’s historic San Moritz Lodge will hold its first public New Years Eve party in 64 years.
The event includes appetizers, a multicourse dinner, dancing, live DJ (produced by Sharkbird Media), party favors, parking and a champagne toast at midnight. Cost is $150/couple, $80/person with advance reservations or $90/person at the door, space permitting. Seating is limited to 200. A bar will also be open for beer and wine purchases.
“It was obvious to us from the moment we took over management of the San Moritz Lodge this past spring, that it was an ideal location for events like this,” said Dee Wagner The California Parks Company’s executive chef who created the menu for the New Year’s eve event.
“Its vaulted and timbered space is romantic, inviting and fits the alpine character of the San Bernardino Mountains,” she said, “All it needed was someone to underwrite, organize and make such an event available to the public. We expect ‘New Year’s Eve at the San Moritz’ to quickly establish itself as one of the most highly prized New Year’s eve events in the mountains.”
Complementing the dramatic setting of the lodge, Wagner plans a multicourse gourmet meal of house-made potato chips with jalapeño buttermilk dressing as appetizers; a salad of organic romaine hearts with garlic/parmesan dressing, red onion and crostini; spinach prepared with cranberries, spicy nuts, blue cheese and apple cider vinaigrette; Yukon gold mashed potatoes with garlic cream; oven-roasted Brussels sprouts with roasted apples and pomegranates; oven-roasted chicken Marsala with mushroom red wine sauce; grilled beef tri-tip with Sartains barbecue sauce; assorted dinner rolls; and red velvet cupcake served with the champagne toast.
Doors open for New Year’s Eve at the San Moritz at 7 p.m. The event concludes at 1 a.m. Local taxi service will be available.
